Tint questions are the ones we get asked most at the counter, and the answer is easier than people expect. Texas law sets the rules window by window, and once you know them, picking a shade is simple.
The rules, window by window
- Front side windows: film must let at least 25 percent of light through
- Windshield: tint is allowed only on the strip above the AS-1 line (roughly the top five inches), and it must not be reflective
- Back side windows and rear window: any darkness is allowed, as long as the vehicle has side mirrors on both sides
What that means in practice
You can go properly dark in the back for privacy and heat, while the fronts stay within the legal limit. Done right, the car still looks uniform and finished, because shade choice and a clean install matter more than raw darkness.
Medical exemptions exist
Texas allows darker front tint with a signed medical statement for conditions that require it. If that applies to you, bring the paperwork and we will walk you through what is allowed.
